Martha's Super Delicious German Apple Cake
Ingredients:
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup all purpose flour
8 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp coarse salt
2 large eggs
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Juice of 1/2 lemon
3-4 tart apples
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Butter a 8" square pan.
3. Whisk together flour, salt and baking powder, in a bowl.
4. Beat together butter and 1 cup sugar, in bowl.
5. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
6. Add dry mixture, beat to combine well.
7. Pour mixture in prepared pan.
8. Combine 1/3 cup sugar with cinnamon, in a bowl.
9. Peel core and slice apples.
10. Add lemon juice and cinnamon mixture, mix to coat well.
11. Arrange apples on top of the cake batter.
12. Bake for 45 minutes.
13. Cool it in pan for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely on wire rack.
