Martha Stewart's Classic Yellow Cake Batter
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup unsalted butter
1 tbsp vanilla extract
4 large eggs + 2 egg yolks
3 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Instructions:
1. Beat butter and sugar for about 5 minutes or until fluffy and light, with electric mixer.
2. Beat in eggs and yolks, one at a time, combine well.
3. Beat in vanilla.
4. Whisk together cake flour, salt and baking powder, in a large bowl.
5. Add 1/3 of dry mixture to butter mixture, beat to combine well.
6. Whisk in 3/4 cup buttermilk and another 1/3 of flour mixture.
7. Repeat this process with remaining flour mixture and buttermilk, combine well.
8. Yellow cake batter is ready to use.
