Martha Stewart's White Cake Recipe From Scratch

Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter + more  2 tbsp baking powder 3/4 tsp salt

4 1/2 cups all purpose flour + more for pan 1 1/2 cups milk 2 1/4 cups sugar 7 large eggs 1 1/2 tbsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions: 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Butter baking pan. 3. Line with parchment paper, butter and flour.

4. In a medium bowl, sift together flour. baking powder and salt. 5. In an another bowl combine milk and vanilla.

6. Beat butter until creamy and pale. 7. Gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy and light.

8. Whisk in dry mixture, alternating with milk mixture in 3 batches. 9. In a bowl beat egg whites until stiff peak form.

10. Fold in whites into batter, combine well. 11. Transfer batter to prepared pan. 12. Bake it for 40-45 minutes.

14. Remove from oven, cool it on wire rack for 10 minutes. 15. Unmold, slice and serve.
